You are more than words and accomplishments. Your GPA, test scores, and resume highlight a lot. These are a snapshot of subjects you have mastered and the depth of knowledge you have in other areas. They may reflect your ability to communicate your understanding of certain objectives but certainly do not paint a full picture. Your college admissions essay is the opportunity to learn something about yourself, convince an admissions committee that you deserve admission to their university, and complete the picture.
Most of us, throughout high school, eventually grasp grammatical constructs, learn how to use a thesaurus, and develop some basic proofreading skills. Rarely, however, do we learn how to derive deeper meaning from written words or how to tackle the introspective work needed to share a meaningful written story. As college essay tutors, teaching you how to do this is our expertise.
Getting started on your college essay is challenging. You have to select a topic - or at least eliminate a few. You must present your story in an organized fashion. You must do some soul-searching to uncover something meaningful. This might be overwhelming so you might be putting it off. Alternatively, you may be off to a great start and need some guidance finishing it, polishing it, or organizing it. We offer private tutoring in-person at our Tulsa office, or online.
The level of competition among students applying to universities is high. Your essay may literally be the only decision-making factor a college admissions committee has to consider when so many other candidates have similar qualifications to yours.
